For whoever gets asked why the storage line went up again

Cloud storage cost optimization with a number on every finding

The Savings Finder reads your buckets and names the money: cold data on the wrong class, old versions at full price, duplicates, idle buckets — with the saving on each.

The Savings Finder: three findings with the monthly saving for each

The problem

A storage invoice is one line. Behind it are objects that have not been read in a year sitting on the most expensive class, every previous version of every file kept at full price, the same export saved into forty folders, and a bucket from a campaign that ended two years ago. The console shows none of that.

> Measured from the product, September 2026: 240M+ objects indexed, 50 TB under management, across Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, Google Cloud Storage and customers' own servers.

What BucketPilot does

  • Cold data on the wrong class: objects untouched for 90 days, priced against every colder class, moved by a lifecycle rule you choose.
  • Old versions at full price: noncurrent versions counted and priced, tiered without touching a current file.
  • Duplicates matched on content, not name, with the groups wasting the most and a link to every copy.
  • Buckets nobody has touched in 90 days, named.
  • Alerts in GB or TB and dollars, so the next jump is an email the day it happens, not a surprise on the invoice.

How to start

  1. 1.Connect and index the buckets — a few million objects take minutes.
  2. 2.Open Analytics. The Savings Finder is on the right with the total at the top.
  3. 3.Press the button on a finding, or don't. Nothing changes until you do.

The finder is on the Business plan; the 14-day trial shows the headline figure first.

Questions

How is the saving calculated?
From your real objects, per size band, at the region's published storage prices — storage cost only, so retrieval and request charges are not included.
Does it delete anything?
No. Cold data is moved by a lifecycle rule you approve; duplicates are listed with links and deleting is yours to do.
Which clouds?
Amazon S3 in full; Cloudflare R2 and Google Cloud Storage buckets are indexed and deduplicated, with class recommendations priced for S3.
