bucketpilot
For anyone who wants to see it work before connecting a thing

Try BucketPilot on a sample estate, with no sign-up

Search 55 million sample objects, see the dollar savings an index finds, and undo a bad overwrite. All on invented data, with no account and nothing connected.

The BucketPilot console: buckets and servers, each with its size, object count and estimated monthly cost

Try it first

Connecting storage takes a few minutes and some trust. So here is a made-up company's storage to try it on instead: five kinds of source, about 55 million objects, nothing connected and no account needed.

Search it, read what the Savings Finder finds, and undo a bad overwrite. Click anything.

Sample data

See BucketPilot on a sample estate

This is Fernbrook Media's storage: 6 sources across Amazon S3, Google Cloud, Cloudflare R2 and a Linux server, about 55 million objects and 23.2 TiB. The company is made up and nothing here is connected, and you do not need an account, so it is safe to click anything.

No credit card. Connect your first AWS account in minutes.

Find any file, in any bucket or server

Index once, then search every source at the same time. By file name, with wildcards.

Try:

8 of 44 sample files. Your estate would be millions.

See what you are overpaying for, in dollars

The Savings Finder reads the index and puts a monthly figure on every finding.

Estimated saving, this estate

$298.46 a month

AWS list prices, US East, as of 1 October 2026.

  • Cold data · fernbrook-media-archive

14 TiB untouched for two years, about 1% read back a month

    $268.08/mo

Move it to S3 Glacier Instant Retrieval with a lifecycle rule: $268.08 a month, still instant to read. The move costs $36.00 once.

  • Old versions · fernbrook-finance

1.1 TiB of noncurrent versions, 220,000 of them

    $20.90/mo

Tier the old versions to S3 Glacier Instant Retrieval without touching a current file: $20.90 a month.

  • Duplicate copies · across 3 buckets

412 GiB in 38,204 files that are byte-for-byte copies

    $9.48/mo

Matched on content, not name. Every copy is listed with a link, and deleting is yours to do: $9.48 a month.

  • Leave this one alone · fernbrook-site-images

2 TiB in 50 million small files, read about three times a month

    No saving

Every colder class would cost more, at least $88.09 a month more, because the files are tiny and read all day. We tell you when the obvious move is wrong.

Same pricing model as the free storage class calculator. Nothing changes until you press a button on a finding.

Undo a mistake

Backups keep every version, so a bad overwrite or a delete is one click from undone.

That was a sample. Yours is two minutes away.

Connect a bucket and the same three things run on your real storage. Nothing in your account changes until you press a button.

What is real and what is not

The company, the files and the people are invented. The dollar figures are real: the Savings panel runs the same calculator as the free S3 storage class calculator, at AWS's own list prices, so you can reproduce every number.

It also shows the answer most tools leave out: when moving data to a colder class would cost more. The sample image library is flagged "leave this one alone" because small files read all day cost more on a cheaper class.

The search follows the product's rules: by file name, with and ? wildcards.

Then try it on yours

  1. 1.Create an account. Every account starts with a 14-day trial, and no card is needed.
  2. 2.Connect a bucket under Credentials. One click in AWS creates the access, and deleting that CloudFormation stack removes it again.
  3. 3.Index it, and the same three things run on your real storage. Nothing in your account changes until you press a button on a finding.

Questions

Do I need an account to try it?
No. The sample estate runs in your browser on invented data, with nothing to sign up for and nothing connected.
Is any of this my data?
No. The company, the files and the people are made up, and nothing here reads from or writes to any account of yours.
How accurate are the savings figures?
The company is invented, but the arithmetic is real: the same calculator as the free storage class calculator, at AWS list prices for US East (N. Virginia). On your own buckets the figures come from your real objects.
Does connecting my storage change anything?
Not by itself. BucketPilot reads your buckets to build its index, and nothing in your account changes until you press a button on a finding. Deleting the CloudFormation stack removes its access.
